I forgot about the flowers!

I totally forgot to share and post about the kids' flowers when I shared the Homecoming post!
So here they are!
This is Emma's wrist corsage.
It was quite an ordeal trying to figure out "exactly" what "fuschia" means to different people, LOL!
I told the florist "fuschia" and she asked "hot pink"?
And I said, "Well, she said FUSCHIA...so I'm not really sure what that means..."
You ask one person...they're interpretation may be more "purple-ish"...you ask another person and they may think more "hot pink".

Well...
As you can see from the picture...the florist obviously was thinking "hot pink".
Emma's dress turned out to be more "purple-ish".
But hey...it's all good.
She looked beautiful no matter what color the flowers turned out!
And she got Evan a boutonniere.
I thought it was really nice.
The funny thing is...

Homecoming was last Saturday...
That's almost  a full week ago...
And I put it in a little plastic sandwich bag when he came home and stuck it in the frig...
And to this day...
It looks as fresh as the day he got it!
LOL!
I pull it out and sniff it each day because I love the smell of carnations!
LOL!
So anyway...
That was their flowers!
Can't believe I forgot to share those!
Teehee!

"Soooo, who's the girl?"

Ev had a little "funny" happen at homecoming over the weekend...
He was at the dance and a couple of his friends came over and started chatting with him and Emma.
Ev slugs his friend Ryan in the arm playfully and says, "Soooo, who's the girl you came walking in with?  Huh?  Huh?"...grinning from ear to ear and thinking maybe Ryan brought a date after all.
All the guys start cracking up.
"What?" Evan says.
"SHE'S MY SISTER!", Ryan says.
LOL!
Too funny.
"Oops, sorry!", Evan says.
Teehee!

"A drift of goodness!"

Nate:  "When Mrs. Statema is around it always smells so good.  There's always just a drift of goodness!"

(referring to his teacher's perfume)

Naughty...so naughty, LOL!

My husband is so naughty!
I can't stop laughing!
We had our windows open tonight.
And all of a sudden he hears, "Olsen!"   "Olsen!"  "Olsen!"
(shake shake shake...treat box being shaken)
This went on and on.
Finally...
Jamie turned out the light and leaned out the window and went "Meowwwwww".
And the guy with the flashlight and the treats came back out.
"Olsen!"  "Olsen!"  "Olsen!"
Now let me remind you...Olsen is a barn cat and can take care of himself...but I assume his "owner" wanted to put him in the barn for the night.
So after the second time "calling"...Jamie moved to another window and let's out a "Meowwwww".
Oh my gosh.
This went on and on.
He'd meow.
The guy with the flashlight would start searching again.
Jamie would move back and forth from different window to different window.
Now mind you...we are cat LOVERS!
We meant no harm...the only thing is...these people also have DOGS.
Dogs whom they let POOP IN OUR YARD.
So...Jamie felt no regret in "playing" with this fella.
LOL!
I'm sorry...it was just down right hilarious.
The guy would call...
And Jamie would meow.
The guy DID finally get Olsen into the barn.
All ends well...but Jamie had a little fun "playing" with him.
He said, "Well, if he'd quit letting that stupid dog poop in our yard, maybe I wouldn't have been apt to tease him!"
LOL!
I just could resist...I thought it was pretty funny.

10/10/10

Today is 10/10/10.
I debated on waiting until 10:10 (a.m. or p.m.) to post this, LOL...
But my timing is usually not that great...teehee!
Just a neat little random fact for the day!
That's all folks!

ZEHS Homecoming 2010

Not possible.
It can't be.
My "baby" is a freshman in high school...
And he's at HOMECOMING as we speak!
WITH A GIRL NO LESS!
Oh my gosh!
He's all grown up!
Anyway, it's all good.
Emma is so sweet.
And smart.
And mature.
And a christian.
She's a great girl.
But what else could I expect from Ev?
He always makes such good choices!
The first six shots are at her parents' house.
We went over there for pics.

Her mom was chaperoning the event tonight (yay Emma's mom!), teehee!
So I took Ev over to their house and we all took pictures.
Then she was taking the kids and also bringing them home.

She told Evan her dress had "fuschia" in it.
Well...
Who knew there were sooooo many shades of fuschia.
I told the florist fuschia...
But...
Upon seeing Emma's dress, the corsage we got her looked more hot pink.

Oh well...
They both looked awesome!
And so grown up!

Emma's mom just shook here head and seemed speachless at one point.
She said, "This just doesn't seem right...they're so young!"
LOL!
I said, "I know...I know."
LOL!

But, I guess they're growing up.
Waaaaaay too fast for this momma's liking!
But we can be thankful...
They are both good kids...
With good heads on their shoulders.
Here's a few shots we got of Evan before we left.
His shirt almost appears BLUE in these pics!
But...
It's actually...

Deep, dark charcoal gray!

Lookin' good either way!

And even though her corsage was a little "off"...his tie matched her dress PERFECT!
So now...
We just wait up for them...
The good thing is...
They're not driving yet!
Yay!
Teehee!
I'm sure they had an awesome night!
Thanks for looking in and letting us share!

Our week at a glance...

Photobucket
It's a busy weekend for us.
Thankfully I've had a pretty light day working today.
Tonight is our Homecoming game.
Looking forward to that.
Tomorrow Evan has a marchnig band invitational in Grandville.
It's also our Homecoming Dance tomorrow night.
Have to swing by the florist at 11am to pick up Emma's corsage.
Drop Evan off at the high school by 11:30 am.
They're leaving by 12:15 pm.
I'll head up there myself to watch and then bring him home...
Figuring if "I" bring him home instead of having him ride the bus, he'll have more time to get ready for the dance.
He'll come home and shower and dress...
Then he and I are headed over to Emma's house for pictures.
I was planning to take the kids...but her parents were asked to chaperone...
So...
They asked us if we'd like them to take the kids!
Hey, who am I to argue, LOL!
So we'll meet at their house for pictures, then they'll head out with the kids.
Kinda makes me feel good knowing they'll be there, LOL!
Sunday will be church.
Monday Evan has his last Monday night rehearsal (he's thrilled).
Tuesday night is the MSBOA competition.
I think it will be fun to watch.
You know I always enjoy watching the bands!  LOL!
So, somewhere in between all this...
I still have to find time to start Nate's Halloween costume too.
I'm not supposed to tell what it is...
It's a secret!
LOL!
But we are making it this year.
And it's going to be really cute!
Of course, what wouldn't be cute on Natee?  Teehee!
So...
That's our week at a glance!
Hopefully I'll find some time to get in here tomorrow night and post Homecoming pics!
Stay tuned!

PumpkinFest Parade '10

ZHS Marching Band!

Leading the parade...

Because of course...

They're the BEST part OF the parade!
...and happen to have THE BEST trumpet player...

My son.

PumpkinFest '10

Today we went downtown for PumpkinFest.
We always love looking around at the little pumpkin people.

One of our favorite stops each year is the petting zoo put on by The Critter Barn.
This year, Nate had so much fun in it that he decided he wants to become a volunteer there next summer.

There were donkeys, goats, turkeys, chickens, ducks, chicks, bunnies, roosters, all kinds of things!

Here's Nate holding a baby chick.
He just loved it.

Ev took a turn too.

Here's the boys with the donkey.

And we ended our trip with a little snack of popcorn.
What a fun afternoon!
Back later for the parade!

Nate's new Ranger uniform...

Nate is so excited!
Now that he is a "Discovery" Ranger...he finally got his long sleeve uniform.
He is so excited and proud.

So, I promised him I'd snap a few pictures and share them on the blog.

Isn't he handsome?

Look at all those merit badges!
