We had a wonderful trip to Mackinac Island this time. Great weather, great accomodations (Mission Point Resort), great food, great fun!!!
Although vacations are supposed to be relaxing (and it was...somewhat...LOL!) the boys kept us hopping with golf, the arcade, hiking, the fort, shopping, kite flying, and much more!
They both rocked it out in the arcade with Ev scoring first place twice on Deer Hunter and Nate racking up seven stuffed animals from the Skill Crane.
We bought them a nice kite and we all took turns flying it. It flew so easy and was beautiful to watch. The best thing was it flew nearly effortlessly...even novices like us were able to fly it!
We played a round of golf on their putting greens and enjoyed that. Of course dad won.
We spent the Fourth of July at Fort Mackinac. We went in all of the historical buildings. We enjoyed the annual bar-b-que picnic lunch put on the Grand Hotel as well. We had ribs, chicken, burgers, dogs, potato salad, pasta salad, corn on the cob, baked beans, chips, and a dessert table nearly a mile long with every sweet you could imagine!
We went up to Fort Holmes (the highest point on the island) for fireworks. NOT MY CHOICE! It was so dark and quite a trek up there. Jamie wanted to watch the fireworks from that view...and it was nice I must say seeing them from five different cities. But the trek back to the hotel was a bit scarey as I'm NOT a fan of the dark. But thankfully Jamie had requested a lantern from the front desk and we lit the way in the woods for not only our family but about fifty other folks as well, LOL!
We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back.
There are more photos to view on my facebook profile for all of my facebook friends!
Enjoy!
